Geemarc ScreenPhone Telephone & Keyboard Pack Summary:
This groundbreaking product is a telephone with a difference. Developed by Geemarc in partnership with RNID, the ScreenPhone uses the latest technology but is still easy to use.
The appearance and functions of the ScreenPhone are similar to a standard amplified phone but with the addition of a large screen. The size of the font can be increased to make it easy to read and answer phone messages can be replayed on the display in text. This large display is good and the controls are easy to use. The ringer is very loud with a good bright strobe. If you have good and bad days with your hearing you can use the ScreenPhone as an amplified phone and other members of the household can use it as a standard phone.
The Screenphone offers you the option of either a Text Messaging service or the 1571 Voice Messaging service. You cannot have both active at the same time, nor can you keep switching back and forth between the two. A permanent choice is required. If you have been using the 1571 service on a phone which you discard in favour of the screenphone, you may need to re-install 1571 on the screenphone if you wish to continue using the service.

Geemarc ScreenPhone Telephone & Keyboard Pack - How Does It Work:
The idea behind the ScreenPhone is simple - you can speak your part of the call as usual but at the press of a button you can receive your caller's conversation back in words on a screen (using RNID Typetalk operator*). Simply dial the number with an 18001 prefix, this will connect an RNID Typetalk operator. They will relay the incoming caller's voice into text for you to read from the display screen. Simply press the 'V/T' button whenever you want to speak and press it again when you want to read their reply.
*Typetalk is the phone relay service run by BT & the RNID where an operator listens to the person talking to you and types words that appears on your phone's screen. One of the nice things about using the ScreenPhone is that it allows friends and family to hear the deaf person's voice, making calls more personal than using a conventional textphone.
Using the Typetalk service is free. In addition, customers of BT will automatically receive up to 60% off the text part of text and voice calls made through BT TextDirect using an RNID Typetalk operator.
Developed by Geemarc in partnership with RNID, the ScreenPhone uses cutting edge technology but is straightforward and easy to use. RNID part number: T374. Requires mains power and use of the RNID Typetalk facility for text relay.
